Time commitments

  • Weekly 1 on 1 meetings with your mentor/mentee

  • Bi-Weekly in-person events at Pier 57

Overall, participants can expect ~6-8 hrs/month of commitment.

Mentor/Mentee Weekly Meeting

College undergrads will be paired 1:1 with a young professional for 10 weeks, and expected to meet weekly. Meetings are flexible, and can be virtual or in-person at any time agreed upon.

Mentees are expected to take initiative to reach out to their mentors and work around their mentor's schedules. As the pairings are 1:1, the pair can discuss whatever seems most useful to the mentee. We also provide weekly topics and resources for inspiration.

In-Person Networking and Workshops

In addition to the 1:1 meetings, Patina is hosting events in Manhattan at Pier 57 to encourage connections and networking. Participants are expected to attend at least 3/5 of these events.

These events will feature workshops that help everyone get to know each other, encourage people to share their stories, and build important job skills that everyone can benefit from.

Events will be from 6-8pm at Pier 57:
- Week 1: Feb 13th, Fri - Program Kickoff!
- Week 3:
Feb 23rd, Mon
- Week 5:
Mar 11th, Wed
- Week 7:
Mar 26th, Thurs
- Week 9:
Apr 7th, Tues - Closing Celebration!

Dinner will be provided!

Why be a mentee?

Many young people feel uncertain as they navigate their educational and career paths. Our mentors are here to provide personalized guidance, working closely with you to understand your goals and learning style and helping you find a clear path to your career.

We also offer group activities designed to help you connect with other students and mentors while developing essential career skills. Our weekly topics include networking, resume reviews, interview preparation, giving and receiving feedback, managing difficult professional conversations, and more!

Together, we will also explore important topics, such as mental health and resiliency, sharing struggles we face, and what it means to be AANHPI in today’s professional environment. We’ll dive into our various cultures, celebrate our diverse backgrounds, and build community.

We hope all participants in our program leave not only with a stronger foundation for their career but also as a committed ally, ready to contribute to a more inclusive workplace for future generations.
